‘The decision to move to Access4 was a simple one. At the centre of our relationship is a shared value system.’
—Geoff Boyce, Director and Founder of Precision IT
Background
More than ten years ago, Geoff Boyce and Gerard Buscombe identified a gap in the market for IT services that were affordable, reliable and easy to understand — without sacrificing flexibility or capability.
They founded Precision IT to deliver innovative technology solutions for small, medium, and large organisations across Australia. From the outset, the focus was on removing unnecessary complexity from IT services.
As Geoff explains, ‘There was so much jargon out there in IT land. We wanted to make it straightforward for customers, take the complexity out of IT services, and make things transparent, dependable, and easy to understand.’
That philosophy shaped the company’s operating model, which is underpinned by four core commitments: Communication, Responsibility, Experience and Knowledge. ‘We work hand in hand with our clients to adapt the latest technologies to suit their individual needs,’ Boyce said.
The Challenge
Over time, Precision IT developed a strong specialisation in healthcare and now supports more than 50 GP and specialist medical practices nationwide. This required a deep understanding of medical IT systems, integrations, and regulatory requirements.
As Geoff noted, ‘We understand the legalities and complexities inherent in the industry and are able to simplify them into a succinct service offering that meets all of their requirements.’
In healthcare, systems availability is non-negotiable. Reliable access to patient records and communications is critical to delivering safe and effective patient care. To meet these demands, Precision IT developed Precision Connect, a highly reliable internet and WAN solution designed specifically for mission-critical environments.
‘Out of the Precision Connect solution, we have built a business called PConnect,’ Geoff explained. ‘It was created from a client need and allows us to continue to innovate as new technologies and capabilities emerge.’
However, early iterations of the solution were held back by platform instability and network outages from previous providers — directly impacting PConnect’s ability to meet its commitments to healthcare clients.
The Access4 Partnership
Following an in-depth market review, PConnect transitioned its platform to Access4, seeking greater stability, flexibility and long-term scalability.
‘The decision to move to Access4 was a simple one,’ Geoff said. ‘At the centre of our relationship is a shared value system. We both believe in taking the complexity out of the service; making it transparent, dependable, and easily understood.’
Just as importantly, both organisations shared a commitment to continued investment and clear communication — critical factors in healthcare environments.
Business Outcome
By transitioning its communications backend to Access4, PConnect significantly improved reliability and delivery speed, enabling the team to uphold its service commitments.
‘Transitioning our telephony backend onto the Access4 network has been a real enabler for our team to deliver on the ‘can do’ attitude we have built our business around,’ Geoff said. ‘Our clients sometimes ask for miracles and Access4’s team and product suite has enabled us to deliver quickly and easily.’
Access4 also enabled PConnect to introduce UC services and integrate them with Microsoft Teams, creating a single, consolidated platform for communications and connectivity.
Customer Outcome
With Access4 underpinning the solution, PConnect now delivers a reliable, turnkey UC experience tailored to healthcare requirements.
‘With more than six years of experience in developing tailored solutions for the healthcare industry, PConnect now aims to make voice and data platforms an industry standard,’ Geoff said, responding to what he described as ‘a pressing need for easy, deliverable, and reliable systems.’
The integration with Microsoft Teams delivers a seamless UC experience for customers while maintaining the high availability healthcare environments demand.
Conclusion
The introduction of SASBOSS® has further improved efficiency across provisioning, deployment and billing, freeing up time for growth and innovation.
‘The SASBOSS® platform with its automated deployment and billing means we now have the ability to spend 70% more time on acquiring new clients and strengthening our client relationships, rather than processing billing and manual provisioning,’ Geoff explained. ‘We are that much more efficient.’
With platform stability assured, PConnect is now focused on advancing healthcare innovation. This includes new integrations such as nurse call and duress alarms and making video the default mode of communication in patient care.
‘The Access4 platform ensures we are up to the task in healthcare,’ Geoff said. PConnect continues to evolve its offering to support the future of digital healthcare delivery.
