Inside UCEclipse: Multiple devices, one identity.

Most communications platforms treat consistency as an afterthought. You get one experience on the desk phone, a different one on the mobile, and a third if you ever try answering through a browser. UCEclipse starts from the opposite premise: the whole experience should be consistent. Because, the person answering the call, whether that’s someone on your customer’s team or someone serving their own end users, is the same person whatever device happens to be in front of them. In our launch article we spoke about the flexibility of UCEclipse; this piece is about what actually makes it work. Mobile-first here doesn’t mean mobile treated as a bonus feature bolted onto a desk-based system. It’s the starting assumption the whole platform is built from, so staff are reachable wherever they’re working, not just when they’re sat at a desk.

One call, multiple ways to answer with UCEclipse

That consistency does more work than it first appears. When presence, caller ID and forwarding rules genuinely follow the person rather than living separately on each device, colleagues and customers stop needing to guess which number or app will actually reach someone, calls stop getting lost in translation between systems, and teams stop maintaining three versions of the same contact list. UCEclipse delivers all of this through native iOS and Android apps, a full featured desktop softphone, and WebRTC browser calling, all drawing on the same underlying identity.

The native apps carry full softphone functionality, ACD login and logout, real-time presence, call history, voicemail and group missed call management, and the desktop app mirrors that for anyone working from a computer, with light and dark modes, customisable contact views and full call control including hold, transfer, conferencing and call recording. WebRTC rounds it out, letting anyone answer or make a call with nothing to install, plus home screen widgets for presence and caller ID.

For teams that need deeper call-centre oversight, Professional tier allows agents to join ACD groups with a variety of configurable distribution and queue callback options’. ‘Adding the Supervisor Add-on to a user gives them access to real time ACD Wallboard’s and live control over the agents in the ACD group.

Why this matters to partners

It’s worth mentioning to a customer who’s on the fence that this isn’t three apps loosely stitched together. UCEclipse is one identity, so nothing needs separate setup or a separate login. Partners are seeing the same demand from their own customers too. Cavell’s UC Market Evolution Report 2025 found that 83% of enterprises expect to change their communications deployment approach in the near term. A sure sign that mobile-first is no longer a nice-to-have but the starting expectation.

What does this look like in practice?

A retail operations team spread across multiple sites stays connected through shared presence and consistent softphones, with managers calling head office, messaging colleagues using whichever device is closest to hand. A healthcare provider gives nurses and admin staff the same calling and messaging experience whether they’re using a shared workstation or their own device, cutting the missed calls that come from juggling separate systems.

For the end customer, the payoff is quieter but real. Staff stop losing time working out which number will actually reach a colleague. Customers calling in aren’t bounced between a mobile number, a desk extension and a voicemail box that’s never checked. Because presence updates everywhere, teams get a genuinely accurate picture of who’s available right now. Rather than a guess based on whichever system happens to be open.

For partners, that’s the pitch that lands. One platform, one identity, and nothing extra to manage across devices.

Next in the series, we’ll look at what happens once those calls need proper handling, not just consistent devices.
