Starting her career journey in telecommunications, Alisha brings a fresh perspective and a passion for learning to her role as a TAC 1.5 Engineer and Apprentice. With no previous experience in the telecoms industry, she has embraced the opportunity to develop new skills, grow her technical knowledge and take on new challenges as part of the Access4 team.

We caught up with Alisha to learn more about her journey so far, her experience stepping into the world of telecoms and a few fun facts along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind the scenes of a TAC 1.5 and Apprentice:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Q. You’re\u00a0doing an apprenticeship alongside your role, what have you gained from it so far?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A. I’ve\u00a0gained a much broader understanding of the business and the principles behind the work I do. It has helped me develop both my technical knowledge and my professional skills, including communication\u00a0and\u00a0problem-solving.\u00a0

I’ve\u00a0been able to apply what\u00a0I’ve\u00a0learned directly to my day-to-day role, which has made me more confident in taking on new tasks and responsibilities. The apprenticeship has also encouraged me to think more critically about how I work and\u00a0identify\u00a0ways to improve processes and deliver better results.\u00a0
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q. What drew you to a career in technical support or troubleshooting in the first place?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A. The main reason I was drawn to a career in technical support was my grandma, who is a Senior Technical Engineer.\u00a0Growing up, I\u00a0saw how passionate she was about her work. She genuinely enjoyed helping her partners, whether that was troubleshooting technical issues or working on more complex coding tasks, and she always approached every challenge with care and dedication.\u00a0Watching her inspired me from\u00a0a young age.

I admired not only her technical knowledge but also how much she loved what she did, and it made me want to find a career that I could be equally passionate\u00a0about. Now\u00a0that\u00a0I’m\u00a0working in technical support, I can honestly say\u00a0I’ve\u00a0found that same passion. I enjoy solving problems, helping\u00a0partners, and continuously learning new skills.<\/strong>
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q. What’s\u00a0a skill\u00a0you’ve\u00a0had to build fast that you\u00a0didn’t\u00a0expect to need?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A. One skill\u00a0I’ve\u00a0had to develop much faster than I expected is communication. When I first started, I thought technical knowledge would be the biggest part of the role, but I quickly realised that being able to communicate clearly is just as\u00a0important.\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0learned how to explain technical issues in a way\u00a0that’s\u00a0easy for customers to understand, adapt my communication style depending on who\u00a0I’m\u00a0speaking to, and manage expectations throughout the support process.\u00a0

I’ve\u00a0also become more confident communicating with colleagues across different teams, whether\u00a0that’s\u00a0asking for advice, collaborating on an issue, or providing updates.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q. What’s\u00a0genuinely satisfying about cracking a truly complex issue?\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A. What’s\u00a0most satisfying about resolving a truly complex issue is the sense of achievement that comes from persevering and finding the right solution. Some problems\u00a0can’t\u00a0be solved\u00a0immediately, so they\u00a0require\u00a0a lot of\u00a0patience, research, collaboration, and\u00a0sometimes a\u00a0methodical approach. When\u00a0all of\u00a0that comes together and you finally\u00a0identify\u00a0the root cause,\u00a0it’s\u00a0incredibly\u00a0rewarding. I\u00a0also enjoy the impact it has on the\u00a0partner.\u00a0

Partners come to us\u00a0feeling frustrated by an issue, so once\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0resolved it\u00a0and\u00a0I know\u00a0they can get back to work is a\u00a0great\u00a0feeling. Every complex issue I solve also helps me build my knowledge and confidence, meaning\u00a0I’m\u00a0better equipped to handle similar challenges in the future. For me,\u00a0it’s\u00a0not just about fixing the problem,\u00a0it’s\u00a0about learning from it and using that experience to improve both my own skills and the support I provide.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
